The CATTORA Rescue Cat House is a purpose-designed environment where rescue cats can climb, run, explore, rest and rebuild their confidence.

For rescue centres, the Cat House is more than an enrichment space. It creates a visible home for fundraising, introduces more people to the cats awaiting adoption and shows supporters exactly what their contribution can help provide.

BUILT AROUND THE NEEDS OF RESCUE CATS

Cats entering rescue care may be under-stimulated, anxious, physically inactive or uncertain around people and other cats. The Cat House gives them choices: somewhere to move, somewhere to observe and somewhere to withdraw when they need quiet.

Connected climbing routes, platforms, bridges and activity areas encourage natural movement, play and exercise.

OBSERVE AND RETREAT

Elevated viewpoints, sleeping areas and protected spaces allow every cat to choose how close it wants to be to people and other cats.

Shy, recovering and rehabilitation cats can explore gradually, develop physical confidence and become more comfortable being seen.

SUPPORT DIFFERENT NEEDS

Routes can be arranged for kittens, active adults, senior cats and cats requiring easier transitions or an Assisted Descent Route.

A WINDOW INTO THEIR WORLD

Three fixed cameras allow supporters and potential adopters to see the cats using the Cat House throughout the day. Instead of relying only on a photograph and a short written profile, visitors can watch individual personalities emerge through play, exploration, rest and interaction.

LIVE VIEWING

The rescue centre can place a link to its CATTORA rescue page on its own website and social channels, giving supporters a direct view into the Cat House.

CAT PROFILES

Participating cats can be identified with profiles containing the information supplied by the rescue centre, helping viewers learn who they are and whether they may be a suitable companion.

ADOPTION VISIBILITY

A cat that hides during a short visit may behave very differently when relaxed inside the Cat House. Live viewing gives potential adopters more opportunities to notice, understand and connect with cats who might otherwise be overlooked.

The rescue centre remains entirely responsible for its cats, profile information, adoption enquiries, applicant screening, documentation and every adoption decision. CATTORA does not arrange or process adoptions.

A TEMPORARY CAT HOUSE THAT CAN HELP FUND A PERMANENT ONE

Selected rescue centres may be offered the temporary placement of a CATTORA-funded Cat House. The placed Cat House remains the property of CATTORA, but the rescue centre can use it to demonstrate exactly what it hopes to purchase and why that investment matters.

1. CATTORA installs a temporary Cat House, camera system and live-feed platform at the selected rescue centre.

2. The rescue centre introduces the Cat House to its supporters and shows the cats using it through its website, social channels and fundraising activity.

3. Supporters can see the environment in use rather than being asked to fund something that exists only as a proposal.

4. The rescue centre raises funds to purchase its own Cat House.

5. Once the permanent Cat House has been produced and installed, the temporary Cat House can be relocated to another participating rescue centre.

Each successful fundraising campaign can therefore create two opportunities: a permanent Cat House for one rescue centre and a temporary placement that moves on to help another begin the same journey.

WHAT THE RESCUE CENTRE PROVIDES

The rescue centre remains responsible for:

• The daily care, welfare and supervision of every cat
• Maintaining the Cat House and following the agreed operating requirements
• Reliable electrical power and internet access
• Accurate cat profiles and Cat House schedules
• Linking its CATTORA rescue page from its website and social channels
• Managing its own supporters, fundraising and donations
• Responding to adoption enquiries and making every adoption decision
• Any local permissions, approvals or operating requirements

WHO CAN APPLY?

Applications are welcomed from established cat rescues, mixed-animal rescues, adoption centres, sanctuaries and humane societies that provide ongoing care for cats.

A centre does not need to have every technical detail confirmed before applying. CATTORA can review photographs, plans and site information to help assess whether a proposed location is suitable.

SITE AND OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Every proposal is reviewed individually. A suitable placement will normally require:

• Adequate space for the proposed Cat House
• A level and appropriately prepared installation area
• Suitable delivery and installation access
• A reliable electrical supply
• Reliable internet access for the camera system
• Any required local approvals or permits
• Staff or volunteers able to maintain cat profiles and schedules
• A named person or team responsible for adoption enquiries

Final engineering, installation and operating requirements are confirmed only after CATTORA has reviewed the centre, the proposed location and the intended use.
